About Breachpoint

Breachpoint is a tactical shooter rather than a fast one. Operations are rounds — first to three — with an objective that is usually "recover the intel and get out" rather than "kill everyone", and eight hostiles who are perfectly happy to wait.

The career runs from recruit to commander across eight operations, each unlocking the next. Progress saves after every completed mission, and a replay of a mission you have already cleared still pays XP, which makes practising a real option rather than a waste.

Two kinds of operation

Intel extraction asks you to find something and leave with it. Elimination does not. They reward almost opposite habits, and the career alternates them deliberately.

Three ranks of difficulty

Recruit, Operator and Veteran. Recruit teaches the maps; Veteran assumes you know them and gives the hostiles the benefit of every doubt.

Controls

WASD to move, mouse to aim and fire, Tab for the scoreboard and Escape to pause. The minimap is worth more than the crosshair in most rounds.

How to play Breachpoint

  1. Open the solo career and choose the latest operation you have unlocked. Earlier ones stay available for replays.
  2. Pick a difficulty: Recruit, Operator or Veteran. If the map is new to you, Recruit is the sensible first run.
  3. Read the objective at the start of the round. For extraction it is always the same shape: recover the gold intel marker, then return to the cyan extraction zone. For elimination you clear the outpost.
  4. Move with WASD, aim with the mouse and right-click to aim down the sights. R reloads, 1 and 2 switch weapons, Shift sprints, C crouches, Space jumps and E interacts.
  5. Win the round and carry on. Each operation is first to three rounds, so one bad round is recoverable.
  6. Clear the operation to save your progress and unlock the next one, or replay an earlier one for extra XP.

Breachpoint tips and strategy

  • Bring your health home. Some operations add a minimum-health objective, and grabbing the intel does not count if you limp into the extraction zone below it. On those maps a slower, safer route is the right one.
  • Sprint between cover, not into it. Shift gets you across open streets quickly, but arriving at a corner at full speed is how you meet a waiting hostile face to face. Slow down before every turn.
  • Crouch to hold an angle. C makes you a smaller target while you watch a doorway or lane. It is the natural way to wait out hostiles who are themselves happy to wait.
  • Reload behind something. R takes you out of the fight for a moment. Do it after you have stepped back into cover, and switch with 1 and 2 if a target appears while your main weapon is low.
  • Listen before you push. The briefing’s advice is to listen and use cover, and it is good advice. Pausing at the edge of a new street costs a second; walking into a hostile who has been waiting costs the round.
  • Check corners in elimination. An outpost is only clear when every hostile is down, and the last one is usually tucked somewhere you ran past. Work room by room rather than sweeping through.

The Sunfall map

Operations are fought across Sunfall, an original desert town roughly 140 metres on each side. It mixes shaded markets, garden lanes, a freight yard and residential streets, so the same town gives you tight alleys in one round and long sightlines across the yard in the next.

Eight animated computer-controlled opponents share the map with you. With that many people in a town this size, keeping the town’s layout in your head, with help from the minimap, matters more than quick reactions.

Because the career keeps bringing you back to Sunfall, the knowledge carries forward. A route you learn to the intel on an early extraction often becomes the safe approach on a later one, and Veteran difficulty is far less punishing once you know where the markets open on to the freight yard.

Breachpoint — frequently asked questions

Is Breachpoint free?

Yes, free in the browser, no download and no sign-up. Your career saves in the browser you play in, and there is an export if you want to move it.

What are the two operation types?

Intel extraction — find it and leave — and elimination. They reward different play, and the career alternates them.

How many operations are there?

Eight, each unlocking the next, from first contact in the old market up to the final commander operation.

Does replaying a mission do anything?

Yes, replays still award XP, so practising a map you found hard is worth doing rather than a waste of time.

Is there online play?

Not on this site. The solo career and practice against computer-controlled opponents are the complete game here.

Does it work on a phone?

It runs, but a mouse is a real advantage in a shooter.

Why did I fail an operation after extracting the intel?

Some operations also have a minimum-health objective. If you reach the extraction zone with less health than it requires, the objective is missed even though the intel came out.

Which keys do I use for crouching and reloading?

C crouches and R reloads. 1 and 2 switch weapons, Shift sprints, Space jumps and E interacts.

How many rounds is an operation?

Each operation is first to three rounds, so you can drop a round and still win it.
