About Redline Horizon

Redline Horizon is a Need-for-Speed-style arcade racer built for the browser. Six original cars — the Sable GT-R supercar, the Kestrel V12 hypercar, the Brawler 700 muscle coupe, the Tsubame RS sports sedan, the Meridian S grand tourer and the Tundra RX rally hatch — are drawn as proper curved bodies with metallic clear-coat paint, tinted glass, LED light bars, alloys and brake discs, and every one of them handles differently: the Brawler goes sideways if you look at it, the Tsubame launches like a catapult, the Tundra is the only thing that feels at home on ice.

The career takes you through six regions in order: Serengeti Run (evergreen savannah with acacias), Verdant Downs (rolling grassland), Azure Strand (a tropical coast with the sea on one side), Ember Basin (red desert at sunset), Cloudspire (alpine mountains with snow caps) and Whiteout Pass (frozen tundra where the road slides). Each region is a 5–6 km loop with hills, long straights, blind crests and water crossings — some a quarter-deep splash, some half a car deep that drag you down to a crawl if you hit them flat out. Every region has five events: Sprint, Circuit, Hot Pursuit, Time Attack and a Grand Prix. Win to earn stars and cash; three stars unlock the next region, and cash buys cars, paint, and engine, tyre and nitro upgrades in the Garage.

Hot Pursuit is the arcade heart of the game: racers versus the police, on either side. Every car carries a machine gun, homing rockets, an EMP that shuts a rival down for a few seconds, and spike strips you drop behind you. Racers win by finishing the laps before they are busted; the police win by wrecking every racer. Repair kits, nitro and ammo pickups sit on the road, damage smokes, and health slowly recovers if you can stay out of the line of fire. Quick Race and Time Trial round out the arcade menu, with your choice of region, laps, rivals, police count and difficulty.

Press Online and you are in a live room of eight drivers on the DevAI Games servers, either a three-lap race or a two-lap Hot Pursuit on a random region. AI drivers fill empty seats and every real driver who joins takes one over, so a race starts the moment you do. The race runs on the server — every car, rocket and pickup — so everyone sees the same thing.

Nitro recharges while you drive and faster while you drift; the handbrake kicks the tail out for hairpins; off-road is slow everywhere and ice is slippery even on the tarmac. Chase, hood and far cameras, an engine note that climbs through six gears, tyre screech, sirens that get louder as the police close in. Your career, cash, garage and wins save in the browser you play in.

How to play Redline Horizon

Steer with A/D or the arrow keys, W or up for throttle, S or down to brake (and reverse when stopped). Space is the handbrake for drifting through tight corners; Shift fires the nitro while you have any in the bar.

In Hot Pursuit, F or Ctrl fires the selected weapon and Q/E (or 1–4) switch between machine gun, rockets, EMP and spike strips. Rockets home in on the nearest enemy ahead; spike strips land behind your car, so drop them when a police unit is on your tail.

C cycles the camera, R puts you back on the road if you end up in a ditch or a lake, Esc pauses. On phones the steering, throttle, brake, nitro, fire and handbrake buttons appear on screen.

Watch the minimap in the corner: the white line is the road, blue circles are water crossings, red dots are police. Slow down for the deep crossings — hitting half-depth water at 250 km/h will stop you dead.

Redline Horizon — frequently asked questions

Is Redline Horizon free?

Yes. It runs in the browser with no download and no sign-up. Your career, cash, cars and wins save in the browser you play in.

Is it a real multiplayer game?

Yes. Online races and Online Hot Pursuit run in live rooms on the DevAI Games servers with up to eight drivers. AI fills empty seats and every real driver who joins replaces one AI driver.

What is Hot Pursuit?

Racers against police. Every car has a machine gun, homing rockets, an EMP and spike strips. Racers win by finishing the laps before they are busted; the police win by wrecking every racer. You can play either side in Arcade mode.

How does the career work?

Six regions, five events each. Winning an event earns a star and cash; three stars unlock the next region. Cash buys cars and paint, and engine, tyre and nitro upgrades.

What are the water crossings?

Fords on the road: shallow ones splash and slow you a little, the deep ones are half a car deep and will drag you to a crawl if you hit them at speed. Each region has one to three of them.

Which regions are there?

Serengeti Run (savannah), Verdant Downs (grassland), Azure Strand (tropical coast), Ember Basin (desert at sunset), Cloudspire (alpine mountains) and Whiteout Pass (frozen tundra with icy roads).

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, with on-screen steering, throttle, brake, nitro, fire and handbrake buttons. It is a full 3D game, so a recent phone helps. Low quality mode is in the menu.

Are the cars real brands?

No. All six cars are original designs made for the game.
