About BrickLab Frontier

BrickLab Frontier is a settlement RPG on a chunked voxel world. You arrive with nothing, gather scarce materials, and build somewhere to live — then keep it standing when night falls and things come looking.

There are settlers with names and jobs, story quests that push you toward the next chapter, creatures and caves to work through, and trade once you have something worth trading. Three save slots keep separate frontiers going in the same browser.

This one is an early alpha and is labelled that way inside the game too. The loop works and is worth playing, but expect rough edges and expect it to change.

How to play BrickLab Frontier

Choose a frontier and start gathering — wood and stone first, since everything else needs them. Build shelter before your first nightfall rather than after it.

Quests point you at the next thing worth doing if you would rather not decide for yourself. Settlers take jobs once you have somewhere to put them, and the settlement starts producing without you.

How to play BrickLab Frontier

  1. Open the game on a desktop or laptop and pick one of the three save slots. Each slot is its own frontier, so you can keep a serious settlement in one and experiment in another.
  2. Look around with the mouse and move with WASD or the arrow keys. You start with nothing, so your first job is to find wood and stone nearby.
  3. Right-click to gather. Collect more than the bare minimum, because shelter, light and everything after it draw on the same scarce materials.
  4. Left-click to build. Put up a shelter and light the area around it while it is still daylight.
  5. Follow the story quests. They point you towards the next useful step and move the frontier on to its next chapter.
  6. Once you have somewhere to put them, settlers with names and jobs take up work, and the settlement starts producing on its own, freeing you to explore caves, deal with creatures and trade any surplus.

BrickLab Frontier tips and strategy

  • Treat daylight as a budget. Every trip out for materials is time taken from the hours you have before nightfall, so gather close to home early and save the long walks for when your shelter is finished.
  • Stockpile before you expand. Materials are scarce by design. Having a reserve of wood and stone means a damaged wall or a new building does not send you out into the dark.
  • Build compact at first. A small settlement is easier to light and easier to defend after dark. Spread out once settlers and production give you breathing room.
  • Get settlers working as soon as you can. Their jobs keep the settlement producing while you are away, which turns your own time into exploration rather than chores.
  • Secure home before going underground. Caves and creatures are worth working through, but a settlement left unlit and unprepared is a poor thing to come back to.
  • Trade from surplus, not necessity. Trading pays off once you have something spare. Swapping away the materials you need for tonight's defences rarely does.
  • Use a spare slot to learn. If a night goes badly, a second save slot lets you try a different layout without losing the frontier you care about.

How a Frontier day unfolds

BrickLab Frontier runs on a simple rhythm. Daytime is for gathering and building, and night is when the settlement is tested. That rhythm shapes every decision: whether to walk further for better materials, whether to add a room or more light, whether to follow a quest now or tomorrow. Good frontiers come from planning the evening during the morning.

Over time the balance shifts. Early on you are doing everything by hand. Once settlers take jobs, the settlement carries more of its own weight, and the story quests nudge you towards caves, creatures and trade. It is an early alpha, so details may change between visits, but that loop of gather, build, defend and grow is the heart of it.

BrickLab Frontier — frequently asked questions

Is this finished?

No, and it says so on its own title screen — it is an early alpha. The gathering, building, quest and defence loop all work, but it is rough in places and will change.

Where does my progress go?

Into your own browser, across three save slots. It survives closing the tab but does not follow you to another device.

Is it multiplayer?

No — this one is a solo frontier.

What do I do first?

Gather wood and stone, then build shelter before nightfall. The guided quests will take you from there.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account and nothing to install.

Can I run more than one frontier at once?

Yes. There are three save slots, each holding a separate frontier in the same browser, so you can keep one long-running settlement and use the others to experiment.

How do I gather materials?

Point at a resource and right-click. Left-click places what you build, and right-click also removes pieces, so take a moment to check what you are aiming at.

Do I have to follow the story quests?

No, but they are the quickest way to learn how the systems fit together, and they lead you on to each new chapter of the frontier.
