About Emberhold

Emberhold is a base-building strategy game in the Clash mould. You grow a keep, ring it with arrow nests and mortars, fill vaults with gold and ember, and then spend that army attacking somebody else's village for theirs. Nine troop types unlock as the keep rises, from cheap Raiders that swarm whatever is nearest to Breakers that detonate on walls and Wisps that heal the ground troops without ever attacking.

The part that matters: the villages you raid are real. Your own layout is uploaded whenever it changes, so when another player goes looking for a fight they can find yours and attack the base you actually built. Crowns move on both sides of every raid, and the next time you open the game you are told who hit you while you were away and what it cost. When nobody real is within reach of your crown count the game still gives you a fight, but it says plainly that it is a practice village rather than pretending a generated base is a person.

Clans are real groups, not a flavour list. You create one, get a tag, and pass that tag to whoever you want in it — or join one already running. The roster is the actual members with their real keep levels and crowns, and troops donated to the clan are troops a clanmate gave you.

Clan wars put two real clans against each other for a day. Both sides field their five strongest villages, every member gets two attacks, and stars from the whole clan add up against the same five bases. It is the one mode where what your clanmates do decides your result rather than just your own attack.

There is a full single-player spine underneath all of it — a campaign, a forge that permanently upgrades each troop type, runes you cast mid-battle, and a build queue with real timers. None of it needs an account. Signing in is only what connects you to other people.

How to play Emberhold

Tap buildings to collect gold and ember, and follow the objective card until the tutorial is done.

Open Build to add mines, vaults and defences, then upgrade the Keep to unlock more of everything.

Open Train to fill your camps with troops — you need an army before anyone will let you attack.

Open Battle and search for a village. Real players are badged; practice villages say so.

Build a Clan Hall at Keep level 2, then create a clan or join one with a tag and declare a war.

Emberhold — frequently asked questions

Is Emberhold free?

Yes. It runs in the browser with no download. Your village saves in the browser you play in, and signing in to a DevAI Games account is only needed for raiding real players, clans and wars.

Am I really attacking other players?

Yes. Your village layout is stored when it changes, and other players are shown the base you actually built. Crowns move on both sides and the defender sees a log of who attacked them. If nobody real is near your crown count the game generates a practice village and labels it as one — it never presents a generated base as a person.

Can somebody attack me while I am offline?

Yes, that is how the genre works — you raid a snapshot of a village rather than fighting live. You will see what happened next time you open the game, and a village that gets beaten is shielded for a few hours so it is not farmed repeatedly.

How do clans work?

Anyone can create one and gets a tag to share. The roster is real members with their real keep levels and crowns, and donated troops come from actual clanmates. There are no bonus perks for joining — a clan is people, not a stat.

What is a clan war?

Two real clans matched for a day. Each side fields its five strongest villages, every member gets two attacks, and the clan's stars are added together against the same bases.

Is the battle refereed by the server?

No, and it would be wrong to say otherwise. The battle runs in your browser and reports the result, exactly like the site's leaderboards. The server caps how many crowns a single raid can move so nonsense is worthless, but a determined cheat could still lie about one attack.

What are the nine troops?

Raider, Slinger, Prowler, Breaker, Bulwark, Skyfin, Wisp, Colossus and Wyrm. They unlock as your Keep rises, and each one can be permanently upgraded in the Forge.

Can you play Emberhold on a phone?

Yes. It is built for touch first — drag to look around, pinch to zoom, and the whole interface sits in a bottom bar sized for thumbs.
