About Tambola Live

Tambola Live is the whole housie evening in one page: the tickets, the caller and a game to play when there is nobody else in the room. It is built around real tambola tickets rather than a bingo grid with an Indian name — three rows by nine columns, fifteen numbers, exactly five to a row, and each column holding only the numbers from its own range.

The ticket generator is the part worth knowing about. It will produce anywhere from one ticket to a thousand, numbered and ready to print. Ask for full strips instead and you get sets of six tickets that between them contain every number from 1 to 90 exactly once — which is what makes a strip fair, because somebody in that set holds every number drawn.

Every batch gets a code. Type the same code again and you get byte-for-byte the same tickets back, which means you can print a hundred tickets on Friday, lose the printout, and reprint the identical set on Saturday — or settle an argument about whether a ticket someone is holding really came from your batch.

How to play Tambola Live

To host: open the ticket generator, choose how many tickets you need, print them, and note the batch code shown at the top. Then switch to the caller. Press draw for each number and read the call aloud — all ninety traditional calls are there, from Kelly's eye for one to Top of the shop for ninety — or set auto-call running at five, eight or twelve seconds and let it pace the room for you. Undo is there for when someone was not listening.

To play solo, choose Play vs bots. You get a real ticket and five opponents get theirs. Numbers are called automatically, you tap yours as they come, and the five prizes — Early Five, the three lines, and Full House — go to whoever claims first. Claim something you have not actually completed and it is a bogey: minus ten gold, and the prize stays open for someone else.

Tambola prize winners

Who has actually won what, in the live halls. Early Five, the three lines and the Full House, counted separately. Only prizes won in an online room count — those are awarded by the server that draws the numbers and checks the claim, so nothing here can be posted by a browser. Games against the bots do not appear.

Tambola Live — frequently asked questions

Are these real tambola tickets?

Yes. Every ticket is 3 rows by 9 columns with exactly 15 numbers, five in each row, and each column drawn only from its proper range — 1 to 9 in the first column, 10 to 19 in the second, and so on up to 80 to 90 in the ninth. They are the same tickets you would buy printed.

How many tickets can I print at once?

Up to 1000 individual tickets, or up to 166 full strips, which is 996 tickets. Large batches take a moment to generate and the print dialog may pause on very big runs.

What is a full strip?

Six tickets that between them use all 90 numbers exactly once, with no number repeated across the six. It is the traditional way tambola tickets are sold, and it guarantees that every number called is on somebody's ticket in that set.

What is the batch code for?

It makes ticket generation repeatable. The same code always produces exactly the same tickets, so you can reprint a lost batch, print more copies of the same set, or check whether a ticket someone is holding genuinely belongs to your game.

Is tambola the same as bingo?

They are close relatives but not identical. Tambola, also called housie, uses a 3x9 ticket of 15 numbers drawn from 1 to 90, and the prizes are Early Five, the individual lines and Full House. Bingo more often uses a square grid and counts completed lines. If you want the square-grid version, Bingo Rush on this site is that game.

Do I need an account or an app?

No. It runs in the browser, the tickets print from the same page, and nothing needs installing. Once the page has loaded, the caller and generator keep working even if the connection drops.
