Twelve guests.
One of them is yours.

Nobody is dressed as the target. Three pieces of evidence each describe one detail, and the only way to match them to a face is to walk the room and watch people. Act on the wrong guest and the contract is over.

About Shadow Protocol

Shadow Protocol is a free stealth game about the part most stealth games skip: working out who you are there for. A contract puts you in a room with twelve guests. They are dressed from one wardrobe, they walk their own routines, and any one of them could be the person you were sent to find.

Three pieces of evidence are hidden on the map, and each describes a single detail of your target. Some of those details you can read from across the room — a jacket, a height, whether somebody walks alone. Some need you close enough to see their face or their hands. And one of them is not a look at all: it is something the target does, which you will only see by being near them when they stop and do it.

Your dossier lists every guest and only what you have actually observed. A guest you have not looked at is unknown, not ruled out. When the evidence and your own eyes agree on exactly one person, the target is marked — and until then, killing anyone ends the contract.

Six contracts, three locations

A private estate, a working port and a night gallery, each in two conditions. Every attempt re-rolls who the target is, what the evidence says and where everyone stands, so replaying a contract is a new problem rather than a memorised route.

How to play Shadow Protocol

Move with WASD or the arrow keys, and drag on a touchscreen. E inspects evidence and interacts, F is a silent takedown from behind, and I opens the dossier at any time. Take the rifle kit if you would rather solve the room from a distance and take the shot from cover.

Disable the target's tracker before you act and their death raises no alarm. Hide the body, avoid witnesses, and leave by the south gate.

Shadow Protocol — frequently asked questions

Is Shadow Protocol free to play?

Yes. It runs in the browser with no download and no sign-up.

How do I find my target?

Recover the three gold evidence markers, then work the room. Each clue describes one detail of your target. Walking past a guest tells you what you can see from there, getting close tells you more, and standing near one while they stop to do something tells you their habit. When the evidence and your own eyes agree on one person, the target is marked.

What happens if I kill the wrong guest?

The contract ends. So does killing anyone before you have identified your target. That is the point — the deduction has to cost something or the room is just scenery.

Can I just shoot the one who looks suspicious?

No. Nobody is dressed as the target and no contract can be solved from the entrance. Guessing works about one time in twelve.

Is it the same every time I play?

No. Who the target is, what the evidence says and where everyone stands are re-rolled on every attempt, so replaying a contract is a new problem.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in both orientations, with on-screen controls. Landscape gives you more of the room to look at.
